Reconstruction of the external ear is very challenging. A satisfactory result may not be achieved in a single staged operation. Depending on the size & extend of the defect, we may decide to use a cartilage graft or to use skin alone for reconstruction. Several procedures may be needed to perfect the reconstructed external ear.
